The Port of Los Angeles is currently undergoing a $60M expansion and modernization program. ANDREGG GEOMATICS is providing survey services for the ongoing Berth 136-139 and Berth 145-147 Projects.
The Project includes new paving and underground utilities for truck to ship transfer areas and a new administration building for the Port. A new operations building and pedestrian bridge are also included. Andregg Geomatics is performing construction staking and as-built surveys for the Project.
Challenges have included working within the fully operational truck transfer area with on-going truck and crane traffic. The site is crossed with numerous known and unknown underground utilities requiring as-builts with short notice and redesign for new utility installations. The survey work also includes tight tolerance layout for anchor bolts and as-builts of bolts and piles with same day deviation reports. Port regulation, safety and security issues make this project especially challenging.
